Wedding photos

What is the best photo app for weddings?

Short answer

It depends which of 3 jobs you mean, and they are usually confused. For collecting what guests shot, you want a QR-code album such as Gathmo that guests use without installing anything. For receiving your photographer's finished work, you want whatever delivery gallery they already use, and that is their choice rather than yours. For editing, Lightroom Mobile and VSCO are the standard answers and have nothing to do with the wedding itself. The one couples most often skip is the first, which is also the only one that is genuinely lost if you skip it. Your photographer's files arrive either way; your guests' 2,000 photos do not.

The job most couples forget

A wedding photographer delivers something like 400 to 800 edited images. Your guests collectively shoot several thousand, from angles no professional stands at, including most of the dancing and nearly all of the late evening.

Almost none of it reaches you by default. It sits in 120 camera rolls, and asking for it individually afterwards works about as well as you would expect.

A guest album exists for exactly this. One code, one album, everything in one place. Gathmo takes photos, short videos, and voice messages through the same code.

What it costs

The free plan holds 60 items for 30 days with a watermark, which is enough to test the flow with your own phone before the day.

Essential is $49 for one event and removes the item cap, the watermark, and the video limit beyond 5 minutes, with 90-day retention and ZIP download of the originals.

Celebrate at $79 adds the live wall and 183-day retention. Grand at $99 adds live streaming, voice transcripts, a custom domain, and a full year of retention. All of them are one-off per event rather than a subscription.

Common follow-ups

Do I need a paid plan?

Only if you expect more than 60 items, which most weddings do. The free plan is best used as a test run before the day.

Is it a subscription?

No. Gathmo B2C plans are a one-off payment for one event.

Does it work on Android and iPhone?

Yes. The guest flow is a web page, so it works on any modern phone browser regardless of platform.
