Wedding guestbook questions
A blank page gets you "Congratulations!". A question gets you a story. Choose the mix you want and copy the list.
Six to eight is plenty for a guestbook page or a table card.
Names or occasion. Two cards per A4 sheet, cut line included.
Your questions
- For voice messagesDescribe today in three words, then explain the middle one.
- For voice messagesSay the one thing you want them to hear on a hard day.
- PlayfulWho will be emptying the dishwasher in ten years?
- PlayfulWhich nickname should they retire immediately?
- MemoriesWhat moment from today do you not want to forget?
- PlayfulWho falls asleep first on movie night?
- For voice messagesDo your best impression of one of them.
- PlayfulWhat will be the first piece of furniture they argue about?
One question per card beats a page of them
Guests answer more when they are asked one thing, not twelve. Put a single question on each table card and let people move between tables to answer another.
The best answers are rarely the written ones
A guestbook line is three sentences at most, written standing up, with people waiting behind. Ask the same question out loud and you get the pause, the laugh, and the voice — the part a book cannot hold. Gathmo lets guests answer by voice or video from the same QR code they use for photos, so the question you print gets a real answer.
Questions about guestbook questions
Fewer than feels right. Six to eight across the whole event is plenty — one per table card works better than a list, because guests answer what is in front of them rather than choosing.
They answer far more than they fill a blank page, because the hard part is not writing, it is deciding what to write. Whether a specific question lands still depends on your guests, so pick ones that sound like the people in the room.
Most of the memory, advice, and playful ones work unchanged — swap "marriage" for the occasion. The wishes set is written around a couple, so it needs rewording for a single guest of honour.
Both work, and they collect different things. Printed cards catch the guests who prefer to write; a spoken or recorded question catches the ones who would never pick up a pen.
