Wedding timeline template
Nobody plans a wedding day from the moment they wake up. You know one fixed time — the ceremony — and everything else has to fall out of it. Set that anchor, and this builds the rest in both directions.
Your day
- Day starts
- 13:00
- Day ends
- 00:15next day
- Total length
- 11 h 15 min
Your day runs past midnight. Times after that are marked.
Your guests are there for
8 h 15 min
From the first thing guests attend to the last. This is the number that drives catering, childcare and how long the bar is open.
These lengths are a scaffold, not a standard
They are there so the arithmetic has something to work with, and every one is meant to be overwritten. How long your photos take is a decision about your day, not a fact we could look up for you — ask your photographer and your venue, then put their numbers in.
Why a printed template gets this wrong
A template is a fixed list of times. The moment your ceremony moves by half an hour — and it will, because the registrar, the church or the venue decides that, not you — every line below it is wrong and you retype the whole thing. This works the other way round: you pin the one time somebody else has given you, and the rest is arithmetic. Change the anchor, change one length, and the day rebuilds itself.
What it will not do
It will not tell you how long your photos should take, and it does not know when the sun sets at your venue. Those come from your photographer, and they are worth asking about early — golden hour is the one part of the schedule that cannot be moved by agreement. This tool does the part that is pure arithmetic, and it does it every time you change your mind.
Questions
Usually you do not get to choose freely — the registrar has slots, the church has a service schedule, the venue has a handover time. That is exactly why this tool starts from the ceremony rather than from the morning: you pin the time you were given and see what it does to the rest of the day.
From getting ready to the last dance it is commonly a twelve-to-fourteen hour stretch for the couple, but the honest answer is that it depends on how many of these blocks you are having. Switch off the ones you are not, put in your own lengths, and the total at the top is yours rather than an average.
Because it is almost always longer than couples expect, and it is the number everything else hangs off: how much food, how long the bar runs, whether children need somewhere to go, whether older relatives need an early lift home. Getting ready is three hours the guests never see.
Yes — the print button gives you the schedule on its own, without the form or the rest of the page, which is what you hand to a venue coordinator or a photographer. You can also copy it as plain text to paste into a message or a shared document.
No. It runs entirely in your browser, there is no sign-up, and closing the tab discards it. Print or copy it before you go.

The part of the day nobody is scheduled to photograph
A photographer covers the blocks you booked them for. The rest of the day — the cocktail hour, the table your friends did not leave, the last hour of dancing — is on your guests’ phones. Gathmo collects those in one private album via a QR code, with no app to install.
