There are now dozens of tools that promise to collect every photo your guests take -- at a wedding, a birthday, a corporate event or a party. The good news for 2026 is that the worst barrier has largely fallen: no-app, browser-based QR upload is now table stakes, offered by nearly every serious tool. That used to be the whole differentiator. It is not anymore.

So we compared the leading platforms on what actually separates them now: how much friction is left for guests, what each one captures (photos only, or also video and -- the real divider -- voice messages), where your guests' data is hosted (a near-universal blind spot for the US-based tools, and a real issue if your guests are in Europe), and what the whole thing costs. We weighted all four equally.

A note on methodology -- and a disclosure. The comparison is based on each tool's publicly available features, pricing and trial experience as of June 2026, and the scores are our editorial judgement against those four criteria. Gathmo is our product, so read the criteria, check the details yourself, and weigh our verdicts accordingly. Two differentiators recur below because they genuinely matter: a true voice/audio guestbook (most tools still do not have one) and EU-hosted, GDPR-ready data handling (almost no US competitor publishes an EU-residency claim).

Gathmo
Gathmo
Best overall: photos, video and voice in one EU-hosted album
Gathmo is the only tool in this comparison that collects photos, video AND a voice (and video) guestbook together, with no app for guests, and is EU-hosted with GDPR built in rather than bolted on -- consent capture, Frankfurt data residency, and a DPA on request. A live wall puts moments on screen during the event, and you download every original in a single full-resolution ZIP on paid plans. The free tier lets you set up and test before paying. The honest limitation is that the highest-value extras -- live streaming to external screens, voice transcription, a custom domain -- sit on the top tier.

9.4/10
Pros
  • No app or signup for guests
  • Photos, video AND a voice + video guestbook in one album
  • EU-hosted (Frankfurt), GDPR-native, DPA on request
  • Live wall, moderation, full-resolution ZIP export
  • Free tier to set up and test
Cons
  • Live streaming, transcription and custom domain are top-tier only
  • Per-event pricing rather than one flat lifetime fee
2
GuestCam
GuestCam
Best pay-once option with AI photo discovery
GuestCam is the closest rival on features: no-app QR upload, unlimited photos and video at original quality, an audio guestbook on every plan, a live slideshow and one-off pricing. Its MagicFind AI face-search is a genuinely useful add-on for big galleries, and its track record is real. Two things hold it short of the top: its guestbook is audio only (no video messages, and its real phone dial-in is US/Canada-only), and it states its data is on US-based cloud storage with no published GDPR/DPA posture -- a real consideration for European hosts. There is also no free tier.
8.7/10
Pros
  • No app for guests; unlimited photos and video at original quality
  • Audio guestbook on every plan
  • MagicFind AI face-search (add-on)
  • Simple one-off pricing
Cons
  • US-based hosting; no published GDPR / DPA
  • Guestbook is audio only; dial-in number is US/Canada-only
  • No free tier; key features are paid add-ons
3
Fotify
Fotify
Best all-in-one: photos plus invitations and RSVPs
Fotify casts the widest net: it bundles guest photo sharing with digital invitations and RSVP tracking, plus AI moderation and a live carousel to venue screens, so hosts who want one dashboard for several jobs get real convenience. Guests upload via QR with no app, and there is a free tier. The trade-off is depth: there is no voice guestbook at all, video is capped at 30 seconds on the paid tier, and -- like the other US tools -- data residency and GDPR are not addressed. Strong if you want invitations, RSVPs and photos together; thinner if the keepsake itself (voice, video, EU storage) is the priority.
8.4/10
Pros
  • No app for guests (QR upload)
  • All-in-one: photos, invitations and RSVPs
  • AI moderation and live carousel
  • Has a free tier
Cons
  • No voice guestbook; video capped at 30s
  • No stated EU hosting / GDPR posture
  • Photo collection is one feature among many
4
Guestpix
Guestpix
Best for template customisation and large galleries
Guestpix is mature and built for scale, with a large library of customisable templates (180-plus) and reliable uploads for big guest counts, plus a written and video guestbook. If you want a heavily branded gallery for a large wedding, it is a solid pick with one-off, no-subscription pricing. But it has no confirmed audio/voicemail guestbook, the interface feels dated next to newer tools, and -- as with the rest of the US field -- there is no published EU data-residency or GDPR detail.
7.6/10
Pros
  • 180+ customisable templates
  • Reliable at large guest counts
  • One-off pricing, 12-month hosting
Cons
  • No confirmed audio/voice guestbook
  • Dated interface
  • No stated EU hosting / GDPR posture
5
EventShare
EventShare
Best crossover for corporate events
EventShare leans organised and professional, which suits company parties and conferences. To its credit it does offer a guestbook with written, audio OR video messages, photo and video collection, a live slideshow and a 1-year gallery -- a fuller feature set than its low profile suggests. It is reliable and reasonably priced from 47 USD per event. The gaps are the familiar ones: a more corporate-than-celebratory feel, limited customisation, and no published EU hosting or GDPR detail, which matters for European corporate procurement.
7.2/10
Pros
  • Photo, video AND written/audio/video guestbook
  • Reliable, professional feel for corporate use
  • 1-year gallery access
Cons
  • Tone leans corporate over celebratory
  • Limited customisation
  • No stated EU hosting / GDPR posture
6
K
Kululu
Best for sheer simplicity
Kululu’s whole pitch is simplicity -- "so easy even grandma can use it" -- and it delivers: no-app QR upload, photo and video on every tier, a live slideshow that casts to Chromecast or Apple TV, and a genuinely generous free tier (50 uploads) to try. For a small, low-fuss gathering it is a lovely, friendly option with one-off pricing. What it does not have is a voice guestbook, and -- like the rest of the field here -- it publishes no EU hosting or GDPR detail. If recorded messages or data residency matter, look higher up this list.
7.0/10
Pros
  • Extremely simple for all ages
  • Generous free tier; casts to TV
  • One-off pricing
Cons
  • No voice guestbook
  • No stated EU hosting / GDPR posture
  • Upload caps on lower tiers

How we ranked these

Scores out of 10 are composites of four equally weighted categories: guest friction (does it require an app, signup, or any pre-event action?), capture scope (photos only, or also video and a true voice/video guestbook?), data handling (where guest media is hosted, and whether EU-residency/GDPR/DPA is offered), and price (per-event cost for a typical 100-guest event). The comparison draws on each tool's publicly available feature lists, pricing pages and trial experience as of June 2026; where a vendor did not publish an EU-hosting claim we record that as 'not stated', not as a negative finding of fact. Scores are our editorial judgement against those criteria. Full disclosure: Gathmo is our product -- check the details yourself before you choose.

Frequently asked

For most events the best option is a no-app QR photo album, because the lowest-friction tool collects the most photos. Among these, the strongest all-rounders in 2026 are Gathmo (photos, video and a voice/video guestbook, EU-hosted, free tier) and GuestCam (unlimited photos/video and an audio guestbook, pay-once, US-hosted). Fotify is best if you also want invitations and RSVPs, and Kululu if you want the simplest possible setup. The right pick depends on whether you need voice messages, EU hosting, or an all-in-one planning tool.

Nearly all the leading 2026 tools are now no-app: Gathmo, GuestCam, Fotify, Guestpix, Kululu, EventShare, Wedibox and Guestlense all let guests upload from the phone browser by scanning a QR code. The main exception is Waldo Photos, which still requires an app, and Google Photos, which needs a Google account to contribute. Because app-free is now standard, the real differences are capture scope (voice guestbook?), data hosting (EU/GDPR?) and price.

Gathmo is the clearest choice for EU events: it is EU-hosted (Frankfurt, AWS eu-central-1), GDPR-native with consent capture, and offers a GDPR Art. 28 Data Processing Agreement on request. This is a genuine gap in the market -- almost none of the major US-based tools (GuestCam, Fotify, Guestpix, Kululu, EventShare) publish an EU data-residency claim or a DPA. For a private event among friends any tool is fine in practice; for a corporate event or one run by a professional, EU hosting and a DPA are the simpler, safer path.

Three of the six tools compared here include one: Gathmo (voice and recorded video messages), GuestCam (browser voice on every plan, audio only) and EventShare (written, audio or video). Fotify, Kululu and Guestlense do not. Gathmo captures both voice and video guestbook messages in the same no-app flow and adds automatic transcription on its top tier. Outside this set, voice is more common than it looks -- Wedibox, photasky and Wedding Studio all offer it.

Yes. Gathmo, Fotify and Kululu all have free tiers to start with. Gathmo’s free tier covers photos, video and voice with no app or signup for guests, so you can set up and test before paying, then upgrade per event (EUR 29/69/89) for unlimited uploads, the live wall and longer retention. GuestCam and Guestlense have no free tier and charge a one-off fee per event. Whichever you choose, download your full-resolution originals soon after the event.
