A hashtag collects less than people expect

A hashtag only gathers what guests choose to post publicly, on their own accounts, while they still remember to type it. Five rules that decide whether a hashtag actually gets used

Say it out loud first. If it needs spelling at the bar, guests will type it wrong.
Search it before you commit. A tag someone else already uses mixes your day into theirs.
Keep it under about 20 characters. Long tags get abbreviated, and then they are two tags.
Avoid letter pile-ups. "SmithSSummer" reads as one S to half your guests.
Put it where people already look — the table cards, the bar sign, the order of service.

No. It is a nice way to find what guests posted publicly, but it is not how you collect photos reliably. If your goal is to end up with the actual files, a scan-to-upload album does that job and a hashtag does not.
