White-label vs build your own
White-labelling Gathmo is the better choice if you want a branded guest-media product running this month rather than next year: 79 EUR a month covers 10 events, your own domain and your own logo, and the parts nobody enjoys building — moderation, transcoding, deletion deadlines, certificate renewal — are already built and already maintained. Building your own is the better choice if the product is your business rather than a service you attach to it, or if your workflow is specific enough that no vendor will ever build it for you. Both put your brand in front of your clients; what differs is who carries the code five years from now.
Gathmo partner prices verified against our own pricing configuration on 20 August 2026: Studio 79 EUR a month or 790 a year, Agency 199, Enterprise 699. There is no rival vendor to quote on the other side — the alternative is your own engineering time, and we deliberately do not put a number on that.
Months to build, and then it is yours to keep running
A build gives you exactly the product you specify and no dependency on anyone. It also gives you every part of it forever: uploads from phones that behave differently, video transcoding, moderation when something arrives that must not reach a screen, storage that grows, deletion deadlines you have to honour, certificate renewal on every client domain, and a support queue when a guest at somebody's wedding cannot upload at 11pm. None of that is hard in isolation. All of it is permanent.
White-labelling puts your brand on a product that already handles those parts, and keeps handling them. Studio is 79 EUR a month for 10 events a year, one seat and one custom domain; Agency is 199 for 50 events, five seats, unlimited domains and sub-brands, end-to-end white label and API access; Enterprise is 699 for unlimited events, branded SMS and SSO. Your clients see your name. The 11pm upload problem is ours.

Wording is deliberate. “Yours to solve” is not a criticism — it is what building means, and a team that wants that control is buying it knowingly. Where a row says “Not offered” it means the thing genuinely does not do it; “Not listed” would mean we could not establish it either way, and on this page there is nothing to establish: the other side is your own team. There is no rival price column for the same reason, and a made-up day rate dressed as research is exactly the kind of number this whole set of pages refuses to print.

Where building genuinely wins
Two things a build gives you that white-labelling cannot. If either is true for you, build.
The product is the business
If guest media is what you sell rather than something you attach to what you sell, the code has to be yours. Every part you rent is a part you cannot differentiate on, cannot price independently, and cannot promise a client will still exist in three years. No white-label arrangement fixes that, and none should pretend to.
A workflow nobody will build for you
Vendors build for the middle of their market. If your business depends on something specific — an integration with the venue system you already run, a hand-off into an editing pipeline, a rule your sector requires — you may be waiting for a roadmap that never reaches you. Building means you decide what gets built and when. That is worth real money, and sometimes more than the maintenance costs.
Where the two differ
The first version is the small part
White-labelling starts at configuration: your logo, your domain, your wording, and the product behind it has already met the phones, the venues and the wifi.
A prototype that uploads a photo takes a fortnight. What takes years is the second half: the formats that fail on one phone model, the client who needs their own domain, the event where 200 people upload in ten minutes, and the fact that none of it can be postponed to next sprint when a wedding is on Saturday.
Somebody is awake at 11pm on a Saturday
With a white-label arrangement, an upload failing during someone's wedding is our problem to fix, and the fix reaches every partner at once.
With a build, it is yours, at the hour it happens — and no vendor escalation path exists to take it off you. That is not an argument against building; it is a staffing question that has to be answered before the first client signs, not after.
The parts nobody puts in the estimate
Moderation, transcoding, storage growth, deletion on schedule, certificate renewal for every client domain: all of it is included, and all of it stays maintained without a line item.
These are the parts that turn a three-month project into a permanent one, and not one of them is optional. Each is unglamorous, each is genuinely necessary, and together they are usually the difference between the estimate and the outcome.
Gathmo partner prices are our own, checked against our pricing configuration on 20 August 2026. There is no third party to verify on the other side of this comparison, because the other side is your own team — which is also why this page carries no build-cost estimate. Two of the rows below go to building, and if either applies to you, building is the right answer. Tell us if anything is out of date.

Questions people ask before switching
Should we build our own event photo app or white-label one?
Build if guest media is the product you sell, or if you need a workflow no vendor will prioritise for you. White-label if it is a service attached to what you already sell, and you would rather not carry moderation, transcoding, storage growth, deletion schedules and out-of-hours support for the next five years. Gathmo's partner plans start at 79 EUR a month for 10 events a year.
How much does it cost to build one?
We will not give you a number, because any figure we published would be derived from our own team and quoted back as if it were research. What we can give you is the list of items that usually get left out of the estimate: uploads across every phone your clients' guests own, video transcoding, a moderation path with a person in it, storage that grows each year, deletion on a schedule, certificate renewal per client domain, and support cover at the hours weddings actually run.
What do the partner plans cost?
Studio is 79 EUR a month or 790 a year: 10 events a year, one seat, one custom domain. Agency is 199 a month: 50 events, five seats, unlimited custom domains and sub-brands, end-to-end white label and API access. Enterprise is 699 a month: unlimited events, branded SMS and single sign-on. Checked against our pricing configuration on 20 August 2026.
Can we put our own brand and domain on it?
Yes, from the first plan: your logo and one custom domain on Studio. Agency adds unlimited custom domains and sub-brands and end-to-end white label, so each of your clients can have their own. Certificate renewal on those domains is handled rather than being another calendar reminder for your team.
Can we build around it instead of on top of it?
API access is included from Agency upwards, so you can drive events and media from your own systems and keep your own interface where it matters. It is the middle path: your workflow and your surface, our moderation, transcoding and storage underneath.
What happens to our data if we leave?
Your media and event records are exportable, and the deletion obligations attached to media you collected stay with you either way — they do not disappear because the tool changed. If you move away from us, keep your old system read-only until the last event's retention period has passed, then close it.

How the two price out
White-labelling is a subscription with published numbers, quoted here in euros because that is the currency our partner plans are set in, and shown in your own currency on the pricing page: Studio at 79 EUR a month or 790 a year covers 10 events a year, one seat and one custom domain; Agency at 199 covers 50 events, five seats, unlimited custom domains and sub-brands, end-to-end white label and API access; Enterprise at 699 covers unlimited events, branded SMS and SSO. Building costs your own engineering time, and we are not going to put a figure on that — any number we published would be derived from our costs and our team, not yours, and it would be quoted back at us as research. What we can say is which items belong in your own estimate, because they are the ones that get left out: uploads across the phone estate, video transcoding, a moderation path with a human in it, storage that grows every year, deletion on a schedule, per-client certificate renewal, and support cover at the hours events actually happen. Price those, and compare that to a subscription you can cancel.

Moving from a build to white-label
Work out what your build already does that you would lose
Start here, honestly. If there is a workflow your clients depend on that a configurable product cannot express, that is a reason to keep building — and better to find it now than after a migration.
Export what you already hold
Your media, your event records and your client list are yours. Getting them out of your own system is the one migration step nobody else can do for you, and it is worth doing before anything else changes.
Run one event on a partner plan
Studio at 79 EUR a month is deliberately small enough to test with. Put one real client event through it, with your domain and your logo, and see what your own support inbox looks like that week.
Decide what happens to the old system
Keep it running read-only until the retention period of its last event has passed, then shut it down. The deletion obligations attached to the media you already collected do not transfer just because you changed tools.
