Snapeen alternative: 50 free photos or Gathmo?
Gathmo is the better choice if photo, video and voice in one QR event album matter more than Snapeen's 50-photo free allowance and poster tools. Both let guests upload in the browser without an app or account. This is an honest comparison, including when Snapeen is the better pick, published by Gathmo.
Updated 30 August 2026. Snapeen facts and original USD prices were checked on its official pricing, product, wedding, Memories and Fair Usage pages. Those pages currently conflict on retention, which is flagged below.

Choose Snapeen for the larger free test and design tools; choose Gathmo for voice in the same album
Snapeen is a browser-based photo and video gallery. Guests scan a QR code or open a link and upload without an app or account. Its current Free plan is $0 for 50 photos and 5 videos; One-Time is $24.99 for 200 photos and 20 videos; Premium is $49.99 for unlimited photos and videos, subject to a Fair Usage ceiling of 10,000 media files and 5,000 participants per event. Snapeen also offers a live slideshow, an A4 poster studio, collages and an optional Memories archive at $49/year or $5.99/month.
Gathmo gives guests the same no-app browser path, while hosts may use the web dashboard or the optional Android app. The free event includes 20 photo, video or voice items, 5 GB and 30 days. Paid events remove the item cap within their storage and retention limits, and Celebrate and Grand add the host-controlled live wall. The practical difference is voice: Gathmo records it inside the same album, while Snapeen's official consumer pages reviewed here list photo and video but do not document voice capture.

Try it on your own event
When Snapeen is the better choice
Snapeen has real advantages. Choose it when its larger free allowance, design workflow or permanent account-wide archive matters more than voice in the event album.
More room in the free test
Snapeen Free publicly includes 50 photos and 5 videos, versus 20 total photo, video or voice items on Gathmo Free. For a photo-first small gathering, Snapeen lets you test with more media before paying.
Poster, collage and permanent archive tools
Snapeen can export an A4 poster PDF with print guides, make collages, and keep all past and future event media through Memories at $49/year or $5.99/month. Gathmo does not offer an equivalent built-in poster or collage studio.
Why hosts choose Gathmo instead
Voice belongs with the photos
Gathmo collects photo, video and recorded voice through one QR browser flow and keeps them together in one event album.
Snapeen's reviewed consumer pages document photo and video. We found no official consumer-plan documentation for voice capture, so this comparison does not credit it with that feature.
Guests still need no app
Gathmo guests scan a code or open a link and complete the upload in the browser without an account. The organizer app is optional, not a guest requirement.
Snapeen offers the same low-friction browser path for guests. App avoidance is parity here, not a manufactured Gathmo win.
Clear event windows
Gathmo publishes 30, 90, 183 or 365-day retention windows by plan, alongside the plan's storage allowance and live localized price.
Snapeen does not provide one unambiguous retention statement: its current pricing page says 30 days on Free and 12 months on paid plans, while its dated Fair Usage and Privacy pages still say 7, 30 or 90 days from event creation. Buyers should ask Snapeen which policy governs their checkout.
One optional host app, full browser guest flow
Hosts can organize from Gathmo's web dashboard or optional Android app. Guests never need that app and can upload completely in the browser.
Snapeen does not require a guest app either. Its stronger difference is its poster and collage tooling, not an app requirement.
Gathmo publishes this comparison and Gathmo is our product. Snapeen claims were checked on 30 August 2026 against the official pages linked below. We state Snapeen's advantages and flag its own retention conflict instead of choosing a convenient figure. Questions people ask before switching
Is Snapeen free?
Yes. Snapeen Free is $0 and currently includes up to 50 photos, 5 videos, uploads until 7 days after the event and a gallery for 30 days. It uses a watermarked QR code, individual downloads and no bulk download. No credit card is required to test it.
How much does Snapeen cost?
Snapeen lists One-Time Event at $24.99 and Premium Event at $49.99 in USD per event; checkout may add VAT. Memories is $49/year or $5.99/month. These prices were checked on 30 August 2026 and can change.
Do Snapeen guests need an app or account?
No. Guests scan the QR code or open a URL and upload photos and videos in the phone browser without an app or account. Gathmo guests follow the same browser-only path; Gathmo's Android organizer app is optional for hosts.
What are Snapeen's upload limits?
Free allows 50 photos and 5 videos; One-Time allows 200 photos and 20 videos; Premium says unlimited. Snapeen's Fair Usage Policy adds a ceiling of 10,000 photos and videos and 5,000 participants per event, and only 2 events can be active at once.
Does Snapeen collect voice messages?
Voice capture was not documented on the official Snapeen consumer pages reviewed on 30 August 2026; they consistently list photos and videos. Gathmo includes photo, video and recorded voice in the same guest browser flow.
Does Snapeen have a live slideshow and poster tools?
Yes. Snapeen documents a real-time gallery and live slideshow, an A4 poster studio with bleed and safe-margin guides, and printable or shareable collages. Those are genuine Snapeen strengths.
How long does Snapeen keep event media?
Snapeen's current pricing page says 30 days after the event on Free and 12 months on One-Time and Premium. Its Fair Usage and Privacy pages still say 7, 30 and 90 days from event creation. Because those official pages conflict, confirm the applicable window with Snapeen before buying.
What is the catch with Snapeen Memories?
Memories is a separate subscription, not part of the $24.99 or $49.99 event price. It costs $49/year or $5.99/month, covers past and future events on the account, and promises no storage countdown while the subscription remains active.
Your guests get the whole album — and can download it.

- Guests open the link and download whatever they want.
- Public, or behind a password — you decide.

How the two price events
Snapeen publishes USD because that is its listed currency: Free is $0 for 50 photos and 5 videos, One-Time Event is a one-time $24.99 per event for 200 photos and 20 videos, and Premium Event is a one-time $49.99 under the 10,000-media and 5,000-participant Fair Usage ceilings. Memories is a separate subscription at $49/year or $5.99/month. Checkout may add VAT by location. Gathmo is also priced per event: it starts free with 20 photo, video or voice items, 5 GB and 30 days, while the localized table below shows current paid prices in your own currency.
