GuestCam's cheaper plan keeps uploads open for six months and stores for twelve. Gathmo's Essential is 90 days for both. If your guests are the sort who find the photos on their phone at Christmas, GuestCam will still take them and we will not — and at the entry price, the gap is not small.

A voice message by phone call

GuestCam Premium comes with a dial-in number, and it is also a $30 add-on. A guest calls it and speaks; no scanning, no browser, no smartphone needed. Gathmo records in the browser only, so a guest without a smartphone cannot leave a voice message with us at all. For a wedding with grandparents on the guest list, that is the difference between hearing them and not.

You can try ours before paying

Gathmo has a free tier: 20 photos, videos or voice notes. Enough to print a code, scan it yourself, record a message and hear how it comes back before any money moves.

GuestCam publishes no free plan. The cheapest way to see what your guests will see is to buy the $49 plan, which means deciding on the strength of the marketing site.

Someone approves the wall

Host moderation is on every paid Gathmo plan: photos and messages wait for a yes before they reach the screen at the venue.

GuestCam lists no moderation on either plan. That is not the same as saying it has none — their site simply does not mention it, so we cannot tell you what happens when something you would rather not show goes up on the slideshow.

A Gathmo album accepts uploads for as long as it is online: 90 days, six months or a year depending on plan. One window, no second clock to track.

GuestCam runs longer on both counts at the entry price — six months to upload, twelve to store, against our 90 days. This is the row where they win, and no reading of it makes it ours.

What is the difference between Gathmo and GuestCam?

Both collect photos, videos and voice messages by QR code, both run a slideshow at the venue, and neither needs an app. Gathmo has a free tier and puts host moderation on every paid plan. GuestCam has no free plan, lists no moderation, and keeps uploads open longer — six months on its $49 plan against our 90 days on Essential — with a dial-in phone number for voice messages on its $97 plan.

Does GuestCam have an audio guestbook?

Yes, on both plans and at no extra cost — this is a row GuestCam does not lose. Premium also includes a dial-in phone number so a guest can leave a message by calling. Gathmo has no equivalent: we record voice messages in the browser on every plan, including the free one, and a guest without a smartphone cannot use that.

How long do guests have to upload?

With GuestCam, six months on Standard and twelve on Premium, counted from the event. With Gathmo the album accepts uploads for as long as it is online: 90 days on Essential, six months on Celebrate, one year on Grand. At the entry price GuestCam gives longer, and at the top plan the two are level.

Is Gathmo or GuestCam cheaper?

GuestCam is $49 for Standard and $97 for Premium, one-time in USD, with no free plan. Gathmo's paid plans are also one-time per event and appear in your currency in the pricing table on this page, and there is a free tier to try first — which is the part that has no equivalent on their side.

Can I approve photos before they appear at the party?

With Gathmo, yes, on every paid plan: photos and messages wait for a host's approval before they reach the screen. GuestCam's pricing page lists no moderation on either plan, checked 20 August 2026. We are not saying it has none — only that they do not say it does.

Do guests need an app for Gathmo or GuestCam?

Neither. Both open in the phone browser after a QR scan, with no install and no guest account on either side. GuestCam adds one route Gathmo has no answer to: on its Premium plan a guest can phone a number and speak instead.
