How much does a QR code cost for a wedding?
The QR code itself costs nothing. A static code, the kind Chrome or any generator produces, is a picture of a link, with no subscription and no expiry. Money enters at three other points. First, the dynamic codes many generator sites sell: redirectable, with scan statistics, on a subscription that starts charging after the trial and without which the code stops working. Second, printing: a letter-size sign from a copy shop costs cents, table cards on heavy stock a few dollars a sheet. Third, the destination: the album the code opens is free on Gathmo with 60 items for 30 days, or $49, $79, or $99 paid once per event for unlimited items and 90 days to a year online. The code is included in every plan, the free one too.
The three line items
The code: $0. On Gathmo it is part of the album in every plan. Made elsewhere it is also free, as long as you pick a static code. Dynamic codes from the well-known generator sites run about the price of a streaming subscription per month, for a destination that never changes, which is money for nothing.
The print: a letter-size sign from the generator prints for cents at a copy shop, about a dollar laminated. Table cards on 110 lb card stock cost a few dollars a sheet depending on the printer, and one sheet often covers 15 tables.
The album: the free plan is enough to try it. Essential is $49 and takes unlimited photos, videos up to 5 minutes, and voice messages for 90 days. Celebrate is $79 with 6 months and the live photo wall, Grand $99 with a year and a live stream. Paid once per event, no subscription.
What makes the price comparable
Count per event, not per month. A $5-a-month code subscription looks cheap and costs $60 a year for a code you need exactly once. A $49 album paid once is cheaper by the end and includes the code.
Count the guests. A tool that charges per guest or per photo gets expensive at 100 guests. Gathmo plans have no guest limit, and the paid plans have no item limit.
Count the time afterwards. What matters is how long the album stays open and whether you get the originals. 90 days to a year and a ZIP at full resolution are in the price on Gathmo.
Common follow-ups
Do I need a subscription for the QR code?
No. Gathmo has no subscription; plans are paid once per event. And the code is included in every plan, including the free one.
Does it cost more when many guests scan?
No. No plan limits the number of guests. The free plan limits only the number of items, 60 in total.
What does printing the table cards cost?
A few dollars a sheet on heavy stock at a copy shop. Printing at home only needs paper of at least 80 lb cover so the card stands up.
